Effective date: July 26, 2026

GimmePhoto (“GimmePhoto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the GimmePhoto mobile app and the gimmephoto.com website (together, the “Service”). GimmePhoto lets small groups create shared photo “piles” — everyone adds their photos to a shared event, in full quality and in order, and the group picks the keepers.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your username, email address, and password (stored only as a secure hash). If someone invites you by email before you have an account, we process that email address to send you an invitation.
  • Photos and content you add — the photos you upload to a pile, along with technical metadata such as the date and time each photo was taken (so photos appear in the right order), and your profile picture if you set one.
  • Activity in the Service — which piles you are a member of, and your reactions (“gimmes”) and keep/cut picks on photos.
  • Device permissions — with your permission, the app accesses your device’s photo library so you can add photos to a pile and save photos from a pile back to your device. We only access the photos you choose.
  • Basic technical data — information needed to keep you signed in (authentication tokens) and to operate and secure the Service.

How we use your information

  • To provide the Service: store your photos, show them to the people you share a pile with, and keep them in the order they were taken.
  • To manage your account and authenticate you.
  • To let you invite people to a pile and collaborate with them.
  • To send you service-related messages, such as invitations and password-reset codes.
  • To maintain the security and reliability of the Service.

How we share your information

  • With people in your piles. This is the core function of the Service: the photos you add to a pile, and your username and profile picture, are visible to the other members of that pile. Only people invited to a pile can see its contents.
  • With service providers. We store photos and files with Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3) in the United States, and we use an email provider to deliver invitations and account emails. These providers process data only to provide services to us.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GimmePhoto or others.
  • We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Data retention and account deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (You → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your account, username, profile picture, reactions, and pending invitations.

When you delete your account you choose what happens to the photos you have added to shared piles: you can remove them from every pile, or leave them in the piles you shared them to, no longer linked to your (deleted) account. Note that photos already saved to another member’s device cannot be recalled.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your account details in the app, change or remove your profile picture, and delete your account as described above. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information; contact us to make a request.

Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including access-controlled, time-limited links to your photos. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above and post the updated policy here.
